History and Mission Print

The Center for Molecular Medicine is a specialized institute of the Slovak Academy of Sciences. Its main mission is to translate basic biomedical research findings into clinical practice.

Based on a joint initiative of the Virology Institute, Cancer Research Institute, Institute of Experimental Endocrinology, Molecular Physiology and Genetics Institute, and the Neurobiology Institute, the Presidium of Slovak Academy of Sciences established the Center for Molecular Medicine as a specialised budgetary organisation on the 1st of November 2007.

The main activities of the enter are:

  • co-ordination and implementation of interdisciplinary projects in the field of molecular medicine,
  • acquisition and operation of biomedical technologies,
  • transfer of basic research findings into clinical practice,
  • training and education in the field of molecular medicine,
  • advanced healthcare services, in compliance with the relevant legislation,
  • expert services to the professional and general public.
